Indian Wells Tennis Tourney Is Now BNP Paribas Open
You know it as the Pacific Life Open tennis tournament in Indian Wells. But it has a new sponsor and a new name.
The tournament in March is now officially called the BNP Paribas (Pa-Ree-Ba)Open.
The banking and financial services company won the tournament’s sponsorship this year and it’s making a big change.
The BNP Paribas will offer equal prize money to both men and women for the first time in the tournament’s 20-year history.
Last year, more than 330,000 people attended matches at the Tennis Gardens in Indian Wells.
This year’s event runs March 9through the 22nd.
