Coachella Mayor’s Younger Brother Accused Of Rape
The brother of Coachella’s mayor has been arrested on rape charges.
Police arrested Ivan Garcia and David Sanchez, both 22, Friday after a woman said she was sexually assaulted by the two men.
Ivan Garcia is Mayor Eduardo Garcia’s younger brother.
The mayor released a statement Monday, saying “It’s an unfortunate situation for everyone involved in this matter. Our family respectfully resuests that all inquires pertaining to this matter be referred to Ivan’s attorney.”
He goes on to say, “The matter is being investigated and any violation of any law in Coachella will be investigated and acted upon by the Police Department.”
Garcia was released from jail Friday after posting $50,000 bail.
