Renowned Gang Member Moved To Riverside To Face Murder Charges
RIVERSIDE – Angel Esparza, the man authorities had hunted down for a Coachella murder, was moved from San Bernardino County to Riverside to face charges.
Esparza, 26, was booked into the San Bernardino County Jail on a Riverside County murder warrant and on an outstanding warrant for parole violation after being arrested on Christmas Eve.
Around 8 p.m. Thursday, deputies got a call saying the suspect was at a house on the 8000 block of Sunnyside Ave. in San Bernardino, officers said.
Deputies went to the house and arrested the suspect without incident. Deputies also arrested Esparza’s 18-year-old girlfriend, Evie Mora, a Coachella resident.
Child Protective Services took their six-week-old baby into protective custody and placed it in foster care.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Central Homicide Unit is continuing the investigation.
The killing took place on Dec. 3 at about 2:30 p.m. near the Boys & Girls Club on the 1400 block of Ninth Street near Orchard Avenue in Coachella, according to Detective Dean Spivacke of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
According to police officials, Luna and Esparza got in an argument. Then, Esparza allegedly shot and killed Luna.
