Indian Wells Fights Back After Two Homes Are Robbed
INDIAN WELLS – Two home robberies in Indian Wells in just three months come as a shock to residents and city leaders. The first happened on the 45-800 block of Nancy Court and just this weekend there was another robbery on the 45-300 block of Crow Circle. Now the city and police are fighting back.
“I thought this must be Halloween. Who is playing a joke on me?” says the man who on Saturday night, he does not wish to give his name.
It didn’t take long to realize it was no joke, as two masked men pushed their way into his Indian Wells home.
“They took my wallet and took the money out. Then they said go to the bathroom and close the door, which I did,” says the victim.
“It was very scary,” says the victim.
The robbers didn’t hurt the 86-year-old man, but they took items totaling hundreds of dollars. The suspects who broke into his home remain at large.
“I was targeted,” says the victim. ” I’m sure they know that everyone in Indian Wells is older.”
This is the second home robbery in Indian Wells in just 3 months. Carol Pavlick lives down the street from where the November robbery took place, she says she’s never heard of a crime in her area.
“It was frightening, of course,” says Carol Pavlick, area resident.
There are some similarities between the two robberies, but it’s not confirmed if they are related. However, because of the two rare incidents, the City of Indian Wells is stepping in.
“This is new to Indian Wells and it’s unacceptable in Indian Wells,” says Indian Wells Mayor, Ed Monarch.
The city and police are offering a 10 thousand dollar reward leading to the arrest of the suspects. They’re also beefing up security and teaching people to keep themselves safe.
“We have training and we publish tips,” says Monarch. ” We are constantly giving information on how people can protect themselves.”
Indian Wells is known as the safest city in the desert and it plans to keep it that way.
