Man Arrested For Pointing Laser At Helicopter
CATHEDRAL CITY -Police have arrested a Cathedral City man they say pointed a laser pointer at a helicopter, last night.
Police say a Riverside County Sheriffs Department helicopter was on patrol overnight, and that’s when 22-year-old Luis Miranda allegedly shined the laser beam into the cockpit.
The pilot determined where the laser came from, and police on the ground made the arrest.
Laser pointers can blind the pilot in the air, even cause a crash. No one was hurt.
Miranda could face up to three years in federal prison if convicted. He posted $5000 bail, and is free, today.
