Indio Police On The Search For A Burglar

INDIO – Indio Police are looking for a suspect on-the-run after getting shot by a homeowner during a burglary.

It happenedSaturday night around 7:30 on the 48000 block of Andorra Street, just east of Jefferson Street.

That’s where police say a burglar smashed a rear glass sliding door of a home.

That’s when he ran into the husband and wife who live there.

Police say a confrontation broke out between the burglar and the husband and while they were fighting, the wife allegedly got a handgun and shot the burglar in the chest.

The suspect managed to get the gun away from the woman before leaving the home.

A neighbor spotted the suspect and called police.

Police say the couple were in fair condition when they arrived.

The suspect is described as a white man with a medium build around 5-foot-8 last seen in all black clothing wearing a ski-mask.

He was last seen driving away in a black top, red Ford Mustangand isarmed with a revolver.
