Deadly Rollover Crash North Of Palm Springs

PALM SPRINGS – A young child died in a rollover crash on Interstate 10 early Sunday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, five people from Lynwood, including three children, were riding in an SUV, headed eastbound on the freeway around 5:30 a.m.

Just before the vehicle reached the Highway 62 junction, the rear right tire blew out.

The driver slammed on the brakes, causing the vehicle to spin out and roll over, eventually landing on a tamarisk tree on the side of the road.

The Riverside County Coroner’s office saysJoshua Woodson, 7, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center, and pronounced dead about an hour later.

The other four people in the car suffered minor injuries.
