Students Celebrate Arbor Day On Own Time

Students at Middle School Elementary in conjunction with the city’s Sustainability Department celebrated Arbor Day Thursday morning.

Traditionally, the state’s observance occurs March 7-14. The national observance is April 30.

The school presented four new trees to be planted: two pecan trees, one cherry tree and a pomegranate tree. The school planned to plant the trees during the celebration in the school’s garden. But, the district deemed it was a dangerous place to plant the trees because there are utilities located underneath.

Nevertheless, students enjoyed fruit portions and freshly blended juices to promote a healthy lifestyle.
