New Warnings About Intersection After Crash

One person was sent to the hospital after a two-car crash near Whitewater Friday morning.

It happened at Highway 111 and Snowcreek Canyon Road near Whitewater.

The CHP says a Toyota was pulling out onto 111 — when it collided with a Mercedes. No one was seriously hurt.

Residents from nearby Snowcreek Village say the intersection is dangerous — with plenty of close calls — because of brush and signs that create blindspots.

They say drivers are often going too fast and not paying attention.

“There’s a lot of cars coming down here very quickly. A lot of them are breaking the speed limit. We know Highway 111 here is a corridor for deaths. People just don’t watch the speed limits,” said Dennis Bowlby, a Snowcreek Village resident.

Bowlby says his girlfriend was the one driving the Toyota. She was taken to the hospital with an injured shoulder.
