Third Storm-Related Death Reported From Palm Springs

Authorities today released the name of a man who died at a hospital more than a week after his vehicle skidded off a rain-slick highway near Cabazon and overturned.

Howard Susman, 77, of Morongo Valley, died Tuesday at Desert Regional Medical Center — eight days after he lost control of his compact car on eastbound Interstate 10 while driving through the San Gorgonio Pass during heavy rainfall.

It was the third death in Riverside County linked to last week’s stormy weather, according to the coroner’s office.

Menifee’s Angela Marie Wright drowned when her car was swept into a flooded wash near Canyon Lake, and Riverside’s Christopher Petrikas died when his plane crashed into a hillside near Lake Perris.
