Annual Presidents’ Day Parade Hits Indio Streets
Thousands of people lined the streets of downtown Indio for the Presidents’ Day Parade as part of the 65th Annual Riverside County Fair and Date Festival. Marching bands, cheerleaders, vaqueros, and plenty of entertainers filled the streets during the parade.
Not only did people get treated to great entertainment, but they also were treated to sunny skies after a weekend of scattered rain showers.
Desert resident Gabriel Perez brought his family to share the history of the event. “Just the tradition of it. It’s been here so many years, these guys get to experience the traditions.”
Kenny Venegas grew up in Indio, now he lives in San Diego, but he came back for the fun, “It’s beautiful the way the city’s revitalized the downtown area,” said Venegas. “It provides for a perfect backdrop with the weather, and the recent stuff out there. It’s just a beautiful day to come out here and enjoy this.”
New District Attorney Paul Zellerbach served as the Grand Marshal for the event.
The festival broke a record on its two opening days, over 68,000 people attended the fair on Friday and Saturday. The festival runs through Sunday, February 27.
