Windy Weather Heads For Coachella Valley
Very windy conditions in the San Jacinto mountains and Coachella Valley were expected on Monday as a winter storm made its way into Southern California.
The National Weather Service forecasted strong and gusty winds and very cold air would move in beginning Monday afternoon.
The strongest winds, according to the NWS forecast, will hit Monday afternoon with sustained winds of 25-to-35 mph and gusts of up to 60 mph.
The areas that could be the hardest hit by the winds include the mountain passes and canyons, but meteorologists warned drivers on Interstate 10 and residents of Palm Springs and surrounding areas to be ready for very strong winds, possible power outages and sand storms in the wash areas.
News Channel 3’s Philippe Djegal also reported seeing snow in the Banning and Beaumont area.
Forecasters canceled a freeze watch, but expected temperatures hovering around freezing in areas.
