Coachella stand-off comes to an end

A peaceful ending to a stand-off in Coachella.

Indio police surroundeda home in the 86000 block of Corte Stella, near Tyler Street, Wednesday afternoon.

They werelooking for a man wanted on drug charges, according to officers.

The suspect,identified as John Cortina,holed upinside the home and refused to come out.

Cortina eventually turned himself in around 8:00 p.m., according to Indio Police.

Investigatorsalso want to question Cortina about other crimes in the East Valley.

He’s being held at the Riverside County Jail in Indio.

Officers shut down several roads in the area, which have since reopened.
