Desert Hot Springs sees second stabbing in one week
There have been two stabbings in Desert Hot Springs within a week — and both remain unsolved.
“We’ve heard of a lot of things that happened around the area, but nothing here on this block,” neighbor Nikki Maglis said.
Police found 39-year-old Anthony Reed Leazure with stab wounds in his chest outside his home on Upland Way Sunday night. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe Leazure had an altercation with someone he knew that led to the stabbing. One neighbor questions her place of residence after what she saw.
“When I saw the body getting pulled out, it makes you think about where you live at,” a neighbor who did not want to go on camera said.
This, just a week after another stabbing on Fifth Street, which is caught on surveillance video. Thirty-seven-year-old Alex Joe Walls was also stabbed to death. Lead detective Jim Henson does not believe the two stabbings are related, though. He says neither were gang related.
Is a move on the horizon for these neighbors?
“I was thinking about it, but no matter where you go…. so close to home you have to think about it twice,” the neighbor said off camera.
