Judge orders talks between Indio and Police Union
Indio’s Police Command Unit Union won one in court Monday. Judge Randall White, has granted a permanent injunction to stop the city’s reorganization plan, until at least both sides sit down and negotiate personnel changes, that affect those in the Union.
You may recall that the city was going to reorganize the top tier of the police force by eliminating the police captain and police lieutenant Positions and replacing it with the rank of division commanders.
The lawsuit was filed May 18th after the city announced the plan which they said will save the city money during their budget crisis.
Indio City Manager, Dan Martinez issued this statement. “We will continue to work with the Indio Police Command Unit to resolve this matter very soon. The judge felt that not enough good faith bargaining had taken place; so we will continue that good faith bargaining. We have requested a meeting with the PCU to resume the process.”
