Trial ordered over alleged attack on firefighter

A Riverside County man will stand trial for allegedly running over a firefighter’s foot during a wildfire.

The North County Times says a judge ruled Tuesday that there’s enough evidence to try Gregory Good for assault with a deadly weapon and interfering with a firefighter.

Prosecutors say the 59-year-old Sage resident struck a Riverside County fire captain in August during the Buck fire that destroyed four buildings and injured six people. The captain wasn’t seriously hurt.

Authorities say Good was upset that firefighters hadn’t protected his trailer, which burned.

Good is jailed and faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

His lawyer, Mark Davis, says the fire scene was stressful and chaotic and that led to Good’s actions.
