223 customers without power in Indio UPDATE

A power outage near Fred Waring and 43rd Ave has left 223 customers without power.

Imperial Irrigation District, the electricity proivder for the eastern part of the Coachella Valley, says they are in the process of figuring out what caused the outage.

Southern California Edison is also dealing with a power outage affecting homes in Indian Wells. Updates on that story can be found here.

UPDATE: The Imperial Irrigation District reports the outage, which is now affecting homes in La Quinta as well, was caused by a car that collided with a transformer, disrupting thecircuit.

Workers are currently on-site fixing the problem, and power should be returned shortly.
