Pinyon fire near Anza finally contained
A wildfire that charred seven acres northeast of Anza wascontained today, with some firefighters expected to remain at the scene, aspokeswoman said.
Firefighters from multiple agencies managed to contain the blaze by 6a.m. But one fire engine, a crew and a water tender were assigned to watch thefire area north of highways 74 and 371, Riverside County Fire Departmentspokeswoman Jody Hagemann said.
Firefighters were dispatched to the area at 2:32 p.m. Friday and foughtthe blaze that initially burned brush at a moderate rate and threatened nostructures.
Containment reached 80 percent by 8 p.m. with full containmentanticipated today, Hagemann said.
A cause was under investigation.
