PD man arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run while intoxicated

A Palm Desert man arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run while intoxicated was behind bars today.

Juan Ramiro Lopez, 27, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup south onMonterey Avenue when he crashed into a vehicle stopped at a red light atParkview Lane about 1:45 p.m. Monday, sheriff’s Sgt. Dave Adams said.

Lopez backed up and drove away but was arrested about 2:20 p.m. in aresidential area — at San Pascual Avenue and Fred Waring Drive, he said.

Lopez was booked in Indio and being held in lieu of $50,000 bail, Adamssaid.

The person in the other car was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
