Palm Springs police on high alert for Mongols’ annual run

The Palm Springs Police Department is on high alert Friday, making several stops of motorcycles coming into the city after the Mongols Motorcycle Club arrived for its annual motorcycle run.

Police said hundreds of motorcyclists from the club are expected in town this weekend, so the department has stepped up police presence and resources in the city.

Officers said the run isn’t connected to the 1st Annual Tattoo Convention taking place at the Hard Rock Hotel this weekend.

Police haven’t reported any arrests at this point, but several viewers called News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 after seeing people in handcuffs and a lot of police activity at the north end of Palm Springs near Tramview Road and Highway 111 Friday afternoon.
