Vacation rental ordinance passes in Rancho Mirage

Rancho Mirage City Council unanimously passed an ordinance Thursday afternoon that will limit vacation rentals to people who are at least 30 years old, according to Kenneth Gregory, the attorney representing homeowners with rentals.

The proposed ordinance would be a nine-year increase in the current minimum age of 21 years. And it would prohibit vacationers from hanging out on rooftops and ban all amplified outdoor music.

The limits would apply to all homes rented for less than 28 days at a time.

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 will continue to track the developments of the newly passed ordinance.
