Police investigate ‘flashing’ incident at Palm Desert elementary school
Officials with the Desert Sands Unified School District said a ‘flasher’ reportedly approached students on the playground at George Washington Charter School in Palm Desert Friday afternoon.
Police were called after students reported the incident to supervisors, according to Mary Perry, public information officer for DSUSD.
DSUSD sent out an advisory notice to inform parents of the incident Friday evening. The message states that a man approached the playground fencing and exposed himself to three children around 1 p.m. All students were immediately brought inside the school and placed on an inclement weather schedule, meaning afternoon recess was held inside classrooms.
Police spoke to the children involved and are investigating the case. There is no description of the suspect available at this time.
Perry told KESQ and CBS Local 2 that no repeat incidents have occurred since, but school security and law enforcement have increased their patrol. The district also encourages parents to come forward should their child have additional information about the suspect.
News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 will keep you informed of any updates to the case.
