Chasing the ultimate high

19-year-old Dayton Shewmaker says the first time he took a hit of dabs it put him on the ground. Dabs, is also known as dabbing, wax, shatter, budder, butane hash oil or BHO. They’re doses of cannabis concentrates up to 80 percent THC, the oil in marijuana that gets you high. The high is much stronger and lasts longer. The side effects are many and some experts are now saying using it can cause addiction or death. This brings back the age old question, is marijuana a gateway drug? Two local young adults say, they now believe their journey of drug addiction began with smoking pot and now that dabs have become easier to get, with the legalization of medical marijuana, they absolutely believe the “gateway theory” is correct.
