Brush fire in Granada Hills threatens homes

A wind-driven brush fire was threatening some homes in the Granada Hills area late Monday morning.

The fire was reported about 11 a.m. near the 12300 block of Highwater Road, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The flames were believed to have scorched as much as 15 acres of brush in hilly terrain.

The firefighting effort involved more than 200 personnel, including at least one helicopter crew.

No injuries have been reported.
