Motorcyclist arrested after high speed chase in 29 Palms
A 21-year-old man was arrested Tuesday morning after leading deputies on a high speed pursuit through the streets of Twentynine Palms.
Deputies with the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station saw Zachary Flores, a Twentynine Palms resident, driving west on Indian Trail at 90 mph in a 55 mph zone. Flores fled the traffic stop and accelerated west on Highway 62, on a Yamaha YZF R1.
Flores was visually estimated at speeds in excess of 160 mph, deputies said in the release. Several times during the pursuit he passed vehicles in the center left turn lane.
Authorities said he finally yielded near El Reposo Drive and Commercial Street in Joshua Tree. He was arrested on a felony charge of failure to yield.
He was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail on $100,000 bail.
