Officials looking for home for blind dog

Riverside County Animal Control is looking for help in finding a home for a special needs dog.

A Riverside County animal control officer discovered the dog after someone reported a sick animal outside a home in Indio. The 4-month-old, poodle-terrier mix does not have eyes. The dog, nicknamed Cassie, is now available for adoption at the Coachella Valley Animal Campus in Thousand Palms.

Employees have been giving Cassie extra tender loving care, in light of her disability. “We’re hoping to find a special home for this special-needs dog,” said Emily Huffman, a veterinary technician.

Cassie was likely born with the disability. If you would like to adopt her, the animal ID number is A-1219275. Adopters should understand the dog’s lifetime special needs and prospective adopters can discuss those in full with a veterinary team member at the Coachella Valley Animal Campus.

The Coachella Valley Animal Campus is located at 72-050 Pet Land Place, Thousand Palms.
