Suspect arrested for robbing pharmacy with knife

A 23-year-old man from Mesa, Arizona was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of using a large knife to rob a Yucca Valley pharmacy on Friday morning.

The Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station was called to the robbery at the New Pharmacy, located at 57725 29 Palms Highway, at about 9 a.m. Witnesses said a man entered the pharmacy, pulled a large knife on employees and demanded narcotics medication.

According to the sheriff’s release, the suspect fled on foot after stealing an unknown amount of medication.

Authorities identified the suspect as Justin Warren Becker after contacting him on an unrelated call in the Johnson Valley area later that day. They determined he was driving a white Ford vehicle that was involved in the robbery and they also found evidence that connected him to the crime, according to the sheriff’s release.

Deputies said Becker was arrested and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail the next day on charges of armed robbery. He’s being held on $100,000 bail.
