Power restored to Sun City after day long power outage

The Imperial Irrigation District announced at 4:30 p.m Monday, that all the power has been restored to the Sun City Palm Desert development that began early Monday morning leaving 1,138 customers without power.

IID tweeted about the outage in the area of Thousand Palms and Palm Desert early Monday morning. Officials said by 9 a.m., only 733 customers were still without power.

Initially, IID officials were hoping to have all power restored by 3 p.m., but it’s taking longer than expected and estimated that it would not be restored until around 7:00 p.m., but they were able to get the power back on at 4:30 p.m.

The outage was reported south of Avenue 38 and north of Manorgate Road, and also east of Washington Street and west of Adams Street.
