Border Patrol finds nearly 150 lbs. of pot hidden in woman’s truck
El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents busted a 25-year-old woman at the Highway 86 checkpoint Wednesday morning after discovering nearly 150 lbs. of marijuana hidden in her pickup truck.
She was stopped at about 10 a.m. as she pulled up to the checkpoint in a Chevy Silverado. Agents said they investigated her truck more closely after a canine alerted them to the vehicle.
Agents ended up finding 58 bundles of marijuana hidden in the rear wall of the truck and inside the spare tire.
The bundles weighed a total of 149.8 lbs. and the marijuana is estimated to be worth more than $89,000 on the street, according to the Border Patrol’s release.
The woman is from the United States and she was turned over to the DEA as the investigation continues.
