Susan Ford Bales honored at Beamer Awards Gala

Former First Daughter Susan Ford Bales was honored by the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage Saturday.

Bales was recognized for the impact she’s made on child victims of addiction at the fourth annual Beamer Awards Gala.

The award was named after the children’s program mascot, “Beamer,” who helps facilitate discussions with children coping with addiction in their family

Bales, the daughter of President Gerald Ford and Betty Ford, has worked on a variety of projects at the center since its inception in 19-82.

“We honor her and we honor her mother to have the vision and the commitment to see that children aren’t forgotten in this insidious disease. That they are just as an integral part of the treatment and recovery process,” said Jerry Moe, director of children’s programs at the Betty Ford Center.

Proceeds go toward making sure no child gets turned away from the program because of inability to pay.
