Behind the scenes of ‘Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders’
“Criminal Minds is taking viewers international.” The new spin-off drama “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” premieres Wednesday at 10 p.m. on CBS Local 2. It follows the international response team of the FBI that comes to the rescue of Americans in danger overseas.
At CBS Studio Center in Los Angeles, we met the cast and caught them in action as they filmed the last the episode of the new series.
Gary Sinise, best known as Lt. Dan in “Forrest Gump”, was last seen in “CSI: New York.” The actor will head the international team on “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” as Unit Chief Jack Garrett.
“Our stories are all based on something that’s really possible and has really happened,” said Sinise.
“Criminal minds” fans are promised the suspense, plot twists and action they love and much more.
“We also take the show to a different level with the different countries we visit. We deal with a lot of religions, cultures and customs,” said Annie Funke, who plays Mae Jarvis.
The actors said the show puts their short-term memory to the test. They’ve had to adapt quickly to their lines and the roles that take them beyond their comfort zones.
Every episode of CMBB takes viewers to solve crimes in a different country without leaving Los Angeles. The stage crew transforms the sets into different scenes on foreign soil.
“It amazes me, literally every day when I come to work and we’re in a new location … I’m like, ‘You guys nailed it,'” said Alana De La Garza, who plays Clara Seger.
