TRAFFIC ALERT: Coachella traffic expected to be heavy again today
Motorists were being reminded to avoid travel on Interstate 10 westbound between Indio and Los Angeles Monday if at all possible.
Significant delays were expected on the freeway as people travel home following the second weekend of the Coachella Music and Arts Festival.
Many of those festival-goers were expected to make their way back home toward the Los Angeles area.
Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol issued travel notices for road conditions.
The CHP said traffic around the Coachella Valley was expected to be heavy during the late morning hours and into the early afternoon westbound on Interstate 10.
Significant delays were reported last Monday following the first Coachella Festival weekend when 10 collisions slowed the already heavy flow of traffic.
The CHP said to allow extra time to get around.
Motorists are encouraged to wait until the afternoon to leave the Coachella Valley if they would like to avoid major delays.
