Family of woman murdered by husband speaks out
We are learning more about an Indio woman who was murdered by her husband, who later committed suicide while running from the police.
Donna Maltese, 54, was mother and grandmother with a loving family. Her daughters have requested we identify her by her previous last name Miller.
“Just why? What in the world happened, what could have made him so mad?” asked Carrie Miller, who sat down with her sister Tiffany Miller for an interview outside of their mother’s home. “I’m so angry. To do this, I just can’t imagine what could possibly have happened that would push him that far over the edge,” said Tiffany.
Donna Miller was murdered Monday night by her husband Vince Maltese. He later committed suicide after a police chase in Nevada. The two were married for five years. Miller’s daughters are from a previous marriage.
“She was the best mom, the best grandma. It’s really unfair it’s really, really unfair that this had to happen to her. She didn’t deserve it at all,” said Carrie Miller.
The daughters believe their mother was in an emotionally abusive and controlling relationship.
“I think that when you love someone you are willing to let them go and live life happily if you know that things are not going to work out. You don’t take their life and take your own and be selfish on so many levels,” said Tiffany Miller.
“We have people coming out and saying he was doing this or that, and maybe this could have been prevented. I don’t blame them but if some had spoken up when he was acting a little weird someone could have told her and this could have been prevented,” said Carrie Miller.
Friends and family have been reaching out and making donations on a GoFundMe site.
“People that we haven’t talked to in years are getting a hold of us and we want them to know that it is appreciated,” said Tiffany Miller.
The daughters are planning a private celebration of life with friends and family.
