Just how hot is your local park? The swings? The slide?
The sun scorching the valley, temperatures approaching record highs and everywhere you go and everything you touch, it is hot.
“With this heat, and this plastic, there is no way to have him here. 100 degree weather. Too hot for him. Definitely too hot.” said Manuel Hurtado, at the park with his little son.
You can’t blame him, a look at just how hot? 130 degrees to click yourself a drink of water from the fountain. The swings sizzle at 156 degrees.
I am already hot and sweaty so I thought I would try one of these slides here. I have my long pants, my long shirt, so kids don’t try this at a park near you.
Of course Pokemoner’s were out in packs, braving the heat to catch them all.
“It is hot outside, just walking around trying to catch some Pokemon but with this heat you try to catch any shade you see. Any drink fountains you run over and hopefully a Pokemon pops up right near it.” Max Rodriguez an avid Pokemoner said.
“We have been walking around all day and there has been different people. They have been going to the same spots as us. For the shade, and the way the game works.” Josiah Chavez added.
When it just gets to be too hot, it’s time to get in your hot car and find a pool.
“Heat record breaking days we are very busy, it will start pick up a little after lunch. That is when everyone starts to come in, it is the hottest part of the day got to stay cool and keep everyone happy.” Alexandria Espinosa of the Palm Desert Aquatic Center said.
“It is pretty awesome but it is too hot, yea way to hot. Does the pool help a lot? Yes.”
“It is really fun, I really like the slides.”
This slide you are good to go for a ride.
“The slides are painted white on the steps so they are nice and cool and at the top there is some shade for our life guards up there, have to keep our guards cool as well.”
