Power restored for several businesses in Palm Springs

A power outage affected several businesses in Palm Springs for about four hours on Friday morning.

The owner of one of the businesses near Palm Canyon Drive and Tahquitz Canyon Way said an underground transformer caught fire, knocking out power to multiple businesses in the area.

Southern California Edison said the outage began at 7:16 a.m. and affected 184 customers. Power was restored at about 11:30 a.m., allowing store owners to get back to business.
