Swarm of quakes felt at Salton Sea

The US Geological Survey reported a swarm of small earthquakes at the Salton Sea Monday morning.

The largest was a 4.3 magnitude quake centered just south of Bombay Beach in the water.

It was measured at 7:31 a.m. at a depth of 1.49 miles.

The quake was followed by magnitude 2.7, 2.5, 2.7, 2.9 and 3.0 quakes.

There were also three small earthquakes before the largest shock, measuring 2.6, 2.8, and 3.3 in magnitude.

The earliest quake was felt at 4:38 a.m.

There were no reports of any damage or injuries.

The shallow earthquakes were centered in an area where the San Andreas Fault enters the Salton Sea and then ends.
