Palm Springs receives 7 million dollar grant for Vista Chino Bridge Project

Palm Springs announced Monday that they received a $7 million dollar grant for the Vista Chino Bridge Project.

The grant allows Palm Springs to move forward with the next phase of the Vista Chino Bridge Project over Whitewater River.

Vista Chino is one the three routes that is often closed because of flooding or sand storms. Many have called for a bridge there for many years.

Palm Springs Mayor Robert Moon was asked during cbs local 2 at 5:30 how the project was doing.

“This bridge is actually costing about an estimated $86.8 million dollars, and 88.53% of that is coming from federal government. in fact, a lot of the preparation work, design work has come from the city already.”

The project will break ground in 2021 and is expected to be completed by 2023.
