Charges filed against man who left dog in car to die
Both felony and misdemeanor charges have been filed against the Palm Springs man accused of leaving his dog in a car for several hours without water, ultimately leading to its death, the Riverside County District Attornye’s Office announced Tuesday.
Brent White is accused of leaving the dog inside the car with the windows rolled up and no air conditioning in 70 degree weather. He was arrested on February 6.
Authorities said the felony charge was made because they determined White’s actions were done willfully, unlawfully and maliciously to kill, maim, torture, wound, and mutilate an animal. In this case; his canine Xander.
An additional misdemeanor was filed in which the defendant is charged with willfully and unlawfully leaving and confining an animal, his canine Xander, in an unattended motor vehicle under conditions that endangered the health and wellbeing of the animal due to heat, lack of adequate ventilation, and lack of food and water, and under circumstances that could reasonably be expected to cause suffering, disability and death to the animal, officials said in a news release.
