Gas price in Inland Empire rises again
The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire rose two-tenths of a cent Friday to $2.93, its highest amount since January 15, 2016.
The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties has risen 24 consecutive days, increasing 13.2 cents, including three-tenths of a cent on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 1.3 cents more than one week ago, 13.3 cents higher than one month ago and 60.3 cents greater than one year ago.
The streak of increases is the longest since a 35-day run from Jan. 31- March 6, 2015.
“Los Angeles wholesale fuel prices haven’t moved very much in nearly two weeks, indicating some stability in the market despite some unplanned refinery maintenance,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
“At this time last year, some local drivers were paying less than $2 a gallon because of an excess supply of winter blend gas, but this year supplies are much tighter.
We could see some average prices go over $3 a gallon in coming weeks.”
