Boeing B-17 takes flight over Palm Springs

A Boeing B-17 has taken flight over Palm Springs. The “Flying Fortress” arrived at the Palm Springs Air Museum Monday afternoon and will be in town through the weekend.

Saturday and Sunday, the public can take part in flights and ground tours. The flight is about 30 minutes long and costs $410 for Liberty Foundation members and $450 for non-members.

This is all a part of the Liberty Foundations 2017 salute to veterans tour around the country.

The B-17 “Madras Maiden” is one of only 12 B-17s that still fly today. These planes were used during World War II and were named the Flying Fortress because of the aircrafts’ defensive fire power.
