H3K in HGTV Faces of Design Competition
H3K is catching the eye of HGTV and is featured in two categories of its Faces of Design Competition.
Kevin Kemper and Howard Hawkes from H3K said they’re thrilled to be recognized.
“They’ve created 14 categories, or aspects of design, and they have different people from across the country submitting projects to be voted on,” Kemper said.
The first category H3K is featured in is Living Large in Small Spaces. The category features the Palm Canyon Mobile Club in south Palm Springs.
“We’re actually designing small houses in these spaces. We’re reimagining the mobile home park into something cool and hip and happening today,” Kemper said.
Kemper said the small-home trend is huge and it’s all about multifunction.
“So if you have a coffee table, make sure it has storage. If you have a bookshelf, don’t put the bookshelf in the corner because it will take up space. Put it behind a dresser or bed, as a headboard,” Kemper said.
The other category H3K is featured in is Curb Appeal.
“The house at one point in time had a lot going on. Lots of iron gates and safety bars on the windows. And it was all about editing and bringing the house back to its original charm,” said Howard Hawkes, Partner at H3K Design.
Hawkes said curb appeal is an important component to any home.
“It’s the first impression of the house and it adds to the neighborhood or it can detract from the neighborhood. So curb appeal is very important,” Hawkes said.
H3K is up against homes across the country, but they’re feeling confident.
“We’ve been eyeing the competition very carefully, so I think we’re a strong contender in there. Obviously, everyone’s done a great job, but we want to win,” Kemper said.
