Red Cross looking for Hurricane Harvey donations

The American Red Cross is looking for donations to help people left homeless in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

Michael King is the chairman of the board of directors for the Red Cross in the Coachella Valley and the Morongo Basin. He lived in Houston for more than 30 years and his daughter and grandchildren are still there and he has been communicating with his family through text messages.

“The pictures I have seen is just shocking how much rain they have got down there,” King said.

King’s daughter is hosting a family who lost their home to rising water. Their church helped dig a trench to keep water out of their home. It’s something thousands of families are doing in southeast Texas.

“Houston is a real giving town so I am not surprised in the least and my hats off to my daughter for doing it,” King said.

The Red Cross and other charities are looking for cash to keep shelters in operation and as always are looking for volunteers to help for future disasters.

If you would like to help, a donation can be made here.
