Pickup truck collides into big rig
Authorities responded to a crash involving a pickup truck that collided into the back of a big rig on Monday.
It happened shortly after 11:30 a.m. on the east I-10, just 2 to 3 miles east of Dillon Road near Coachella.
According to California Highway Patrol, the slow lane was blocked.
The driver of a pickup truck was looking down at a device shortly before crashing into the semi truck, according to the scene.
The pickup driver suffered a broken leg and was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center.
