Update: Yucca Valley man facing murder charges after 1-year-old’s death
Update 2/13/18: The 1-year-old toddler was declared brain dead Monday night. The charges against Arthur Thomas Davies have been upgraded to murder charges.
A GoFundMe page has been created in support of the victim’s family. The campaign, which was created by Shelby Woodruff, is simply titled “Parker & Karissa” and details that Parker is currently in the ICU.
“I’m making this bc I know how much love & support she has out there & I know we all wanna help somehow,” the page reads, “Karissa was not asking, but she shouldn’t have to worry about anything financial right now. & that should be the last thing on her mind. Anything helps & please keep praying!”
According to the GoFundMe, the campaign is currently “trending” on the site. At time of publication, the page had achieved $1,090 of its $10,000 goal thanks to donations from 22 people in 18 hours.

Original Story 2/12/18:
Yucca Valley resident Arthur Thomas Davies, 34, was arrested and booked into the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino on attempted murder charges after seriously injuring a 1-year-old boy Saturday at a residence in the 55500 block of Twentynine Palms Hwy in Yucca Valley.
The 1-year-old boy was flown to the Loma Linda University Medical Center on Saturday after being treated at the Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree. The next day, medical staff alerted the Sheriff’s Department that the child’s injuries were suspicious. An investigation into the cause of the child’s injuries began immediately.
Detectives determined that Davies, the boyfriend of the child’s mother, was responsible for the child’s injuries. Davies is not the child’s biological father.
The child remains in the hospital in serious condition and is on life support. Davies is being held on $1 million bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
