Earthquake strikes outside Thousand Palms

The west valley was hit with an earthquake Sunday early evening.

The magnitude 3.9 struck about 8 miles northeast of Thousand Palms at 5:46 p.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake was about 4.7 miles deep. The epicenter was just north of the San Andreas fault line.

Earthquake Preparedness Tips

Those who called into the newsroom felt the quake from Desert Hot Springs to cities in the east valley. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
