West Valley parents learn about children’s classrooms

Parents with children in the Palm Springs Unified School District had the opportunity to learn more about their children’s schools Saturday morning.

For the third straight year, the district hosted the Pride and Purpose Family Engagement Conference at Cathedral City High School. Parents were able to learn about various educational and health resources for their kids. The event included seven workshops that highlighted the curriculum being taught to students.

District staff said the goal is to inform parents of what goes on in the classroom.

“We’ll be breaking down those standards, really help parents know how they can take what they’re learning in today’s lessons to their home and continue to learn with students that way,” said Ruby Rivera, PSUSD family engagement coordinator.

Students and teachers were also honored during an awards ceremony for their work in the classroom.
