Millions expected to shop online for Cyber Monday
The holiday shopping weekend is almost ending wrapping up with Cyber Monday. With the chaos of Black Friday in the rear view mirror millions of shoppers are expected to head online to score more deals.
That includes 8 year old William Taylor of Los Angeles.
“Clothes, a new TV, lamps,” he said.
Yes, online shopping starts young for some, but his relatives confirm his activity.
“He’s a whiz on the iPhone. Be careful with it,” Daniel Fisker, William’s uncle, said.
For one Palm Springs man, he’s focused on getting his vitamins online saving hundreds of dollars..
“Now often times, you get them at a great discount online and the shipping is fast so I can just resort to that as opposed to driving around parking,” Tom Cause of Palm Springs, said.
According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), 75 million people are expected to take advantage of online deals by shelling out a record $7.7 billion dollars. The Better Business bBureau has some tips to make the shopping hassle-free. Use retail websites that you trust, shop with a credit card for more financial protection, and take your time and read the fine print of the product you want to buy.
“I do my research first. I read all the reviews and there’s always one guy in there…you could have a hundred reviews…and there’s one guy that hates the product and someone else that thinks it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread,” Clause said.

However enticing the deals may be, Fisker says restraint is necessary.
“Just don’t buy too much. Just be reasonable about it, or use it to your advantage for holiday shopping,” he said.
Especially for his tech savvy nephew.
An estimated $20 billion was spent online on Thanksgiving weekend last year, according to the NRF.
