Gusting winds down 23 power Thermal poles
Strong winds brought down 23 power poles in Thermal Thursday afternoon, causing a power outage that affected thousands of Imperial Irrigation District customers.
Residents told News Channel 3 the outage began at around 6 p.m. Robert Schettler, an IID spokesperson, confirmed the outage affected 2,430 people when it initially began but power has been returned to all but 15 customers.
Schettler said at this time it is unknown how long the 15 customers will be without power.
The California Highway Patrol have shut down Filmore Street from Avenue 60 to 66 as crews continue repairs.
