Cathedral City Council votes unanimously on new moratorium

The Cathedral City Council has unanimously voted in favor of establishing a new moratorium on short-term vacation rentals.

On Wednesday night, council members voted for a moratorium to stay in place until the council votes to repeal it.

It wasn’t clear when that could happen.

The moratorium does not apply to existing short-term vacation rental licenses or to the renewal of those licenses.

It also excludes areas governed by homeowners or community associations that allow rentals.

The council has asked for more time for the city’s short-term task force to come up with future recommendations.
