Suspected DUI driver crashes in Thermal after leading police on pursuit

A suspected DUI driver led police on a pursuit that started in Coachella before crashing in Thermal Friday evening.

The incident started at around 7:20 p.m. when Riverside County Sheriff's deputies located a possible DUI driver in the area of Avenue 52 and Cesar Chavez Street.

A spokesperson for the agency said deputies attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle failed to yield, and a pursuit was initiated.

The suspect led deputies on a pursuit until they crashed in the area of 62nd Avenue and Fillmore Street.

There was no information available on whether anyone was injured. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
